Peggy read the following bio for our District Governor:
A Rotarian since 2000, Joe is a member of the Rotary Club of Bellflower. He served as Centennial President of the club in 2004-2005. Since then, Joe has served in various leadership roles at the District level. He has received the District Rotarian of the Year Award and the RI Service Above Self Award. In addition to organizing major District events, Joe has been involved in the organization of District-wide humanitarian trips throughout Latin American and the Caribbean.
Joe began a 25-year career in hospital administration following undergrad and graduate studies at California State University, Long Beach. In 1996 he started a mechanical and electrical contracting business which today serves LA and Orange counties. Joe has served on several community boards and remains active in Long Beach, where he and his wife Rozangela live.
Joe has two daughters and two grandchildren. They all live near each other and they spend a lot of time together. He and Rozangela are Major Donors. Joe is a member of the Paul Harris Society each year. The most rewarding Rotary moments for Joe and Rozangela come from enjoying fellowship events with Rotarians and participating in humanitarian service projects.
Why Rotary?
Joe shared with us his history and how he picked up the phone book in 1976 and found a plumber by the name of Don that he needed for his house. That Plumber eventually invited him to Join a Rotary meeting in 2000 many years later.

Don inspired our Gobernor to Join and he is thankful for inviting him to join Rotary at the time that worked for him.
Gobernor Vasquez stated " Our involvement in Rotary helps us believe in ourselves", he also stated that Every Rotarian counts, make this year, the year you decide to get involved.
"The essence of Rotary lies within each club. This year we celebrate the clubs, the wonderful work of our members. Together we recognize, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CLUBS!!.
Scott Pafford was recognized by Governor Vasquez for his work with Rotary for many years. He was pinned by District 5280 DG Aide Nora McLellan and he received the "be the inspiration" pin.
Governor Vasquez also recognized Tigranna Zakaryan and shared with us how her interview was via skype while she was abroad in Uganda. She is the recipient of the Global Scholar from our District.
Governor Joe Vasquez ended by saying the following:
"Together we see a world where people unite to make a lasting change"
