Rise Against Hunger a District Wide project!
Oct. 25, 2024 7:00 a.m.
David will be discussing the district wide food packing project with the Rise Against Hunger (RAH) organization. RAH is committed to ending world hunger by 2030. You can see more about them at www.riseagainsthunger.org RAH sends food all over the world to manmade (Ukraine) and natural (floods and hurricanes) disasters. One of the best things they do is send 40% of all the food packaged to schools in developing nations. That increases attendance and learning, helping to end the cycle of poverty. Educated girls are less likely to fall victim to human trafficking. What we will be doing the day of the event is putting specific amounts of soy, dehydrated vegetables, rice and a vitamin/mineral packet into a plastic bag that is weighed, sealed, labeled and boxed. Each bag is a meal for 6 and there are 30 bags in a box.

After many years of being asked to arrage a dinner at The Magic Castle, Peggy Smith and I have come up with a plan. We have made reservations for 20 guests. 2 tables of 6 and 1 of 8. To keep everything simple, each table will take care of their own check. Peggy and I are taking care of the door charge. This event is for GSR members and a maximum of ONE guest. If there is room closer to the event we may open it up. There is a VERY strict dress code...Just ask Mike Shaar. Here is the link to the dress code -- http://www.magiccastle.com/dresscode/. Also everyone MUST be over 21, everyones ID will be checked at the door. I suggest you get there between 4:30 and 4:45. That will make it easier to get into the 5:15 Close Up show. Dinner will be at 6:00 followed by a short tour of the Castle. Then we will have tickets for the 8 pm Palace show. After the show you will be on your own. You can stay as late as you would like. Any questions you can reach out to Peggy or me. |
