There is more to running an effective Rotary club than meets the eye. When a club is functioning effective, members rarely notice the work being done behind the scenes by the
Rotary is a grassroots organization, and its service efforts are carried out at the club level. Effective club operations include both administrative and service responsibilities. An effective Rotary club is able to:
Sustain or increase its membership base,
Implement successful projects that address the needs of their community and communities in other countries,
Support The Rotary Foundation through both program participation and financial contributions and
Develop leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level
Effective Rotary club administration involves organizing people and resources to achieve common goals. Clubs must operate efficiently to provide service to the community, attract and retain members, and develop leaders for the club, district, and Rotary International.
In most Rotary clubs, administrative responsibilities are handled by the Club Service Committee, the Secretary, Treasurer, the Sgt-At-Arms and include:
Planning and organizing weekly meetings and programs
Promoting fellowship among club members
Keeping members informed through a club newsletter or Web site
Collecting dues
Maintaining club membership lists and reporting to Rotary International
Tracking club attendance

Coordination of the weekly meetings and off site meeting with the appropriate entity
Maintaining the website and training others to utilize the site
Organizing and promoting fellowship events - usually monthly
Assisting the other Avenues of Service with Fundraising projects
Assist with the bi-annual Club Assemblies. A time when the Board and the Avenues of Service report to the club members the status of club operations.
Training - Assist with coordinate of the training of club members by encouraging participation at District Assemblies, PRLS - Professional Rotary Leaders Seminar, participation at monthly District Leadership Meetings, President elect attendance at PETS (President Elects Training), etc.
Maintaining Rotary resource materials: e.g. Club brochure, GSR business cards, etc.
